I looked around and tried to add some backgrounds with the instructions the website gave me but none of them would work. The fonts and the arrangement would change to coincide with the template I wanted but the background would stay the same. Then there was this button towards the bottom of the templates page that said something about switching to one of bloggers template so out of desperation I tried it and am now stuck. When I go to the templates tab something completely different comes up and I only have the option to choose one of their designs.<br /><br />Seeing that I am really not computer savvy past actually posting on this blog, I need HELP! And if anyone knows what I should do please leave a comment!<br /><br />Sorry for the boring post :)Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554095170367441998.post-45543106362126389432009-01-14T15:46:00.000-08:002009-01-14T17:16:03.929-08:00My view from the couch<div style="text-align: left;">Yes, after sitting in my sick bed for almost a week I am sad to say little progress has been made on the feeling better front. I have been trying to go to at least one of my jobs every day but have slowly hit the wall and have come crashing back down on my couch. Unfortunately, it is hard to rest my voice when I have 35-40 screaming kindergarden-1st graders that I have to talk over daily (especially when the room leader, too, is sick and at home). Oh the job is fun; however, it is really unrealistic to follow doctors orders for getting better when she tells me "well just stop talking for a couple of day" HA! Not intended towards the doctor of course but at myself for failing at this before I began (oh yes I forgot to mention that my voice has escaped me since last Friday and I am not quite sure where it went to). So in leu of not dying from boredom these past couple of days, here is what I have been up to (and what I think of it):<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>*Getting rid of all refugee Christmas decorations</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Yes they were still up until a couple of days ago and now my house is *gasp* bare. I will share pictures in a later post but it was some sort of small accomplishment to box up our tree (fake) and store away the Santa toilet seat (don't ask).<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>*Watching the BBC America version of The Office</div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>Less funny and more crude, still maybe it is less funny because I am not British and cannot understand everything they are saying. The show really is entertaining however the character development is really lacking. I really have no clue who some of the people in the office are and could really care less if Tim and Dawn (their version of Jim and Pam) get together.</div><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SW6M75zABmI/AAAAAAAAACM/4olbfdmroeg/s320/images-1.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291321572961814114" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 116px; height: 101px; " />*Reading<div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>I am in-between two books right now </div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SW6Ns1rbhkI/AAAAAAAAACU/7hCG0B7RzmI/s320/images-1.jpeg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291322413669910082" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 77px; height: 116px; " /></span><div> First is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">Radical Womanhood</span>. I was very excited to get this book when it came out but lately I cannot seem to pick it up to finish it. Do not get me wrong, the book has very good points over feminism and the Christian faith (something that I am usually very cynical and picky about because feminism was thrown down the throats of the Comms. Dept. at CSUN and to tell the truth, most Christian writers bash the movement without knowing anything about it so just end up rolling my eyes and skipping to the next chapter) however, the book is a little on the unoriginal side, meaning half of every page is taken up by quotes from another author or scholar. She is CLEARLY a very intelligent woman on the matter which is why I am having trouble with the writing.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SW6OGbFqq-I/AAAAAAAAACc/uUDz4WYxzOU/s1600-h/eat-pray-love.thumbnail.gif"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SW6OGbFqq-I/AAAAAAAAACc/uUDz4WYxzOU/s320/eat-pray-love.thumbnail.gif" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5291322853208796130" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 84px; height: 128px; " /></a><div> Second book I just started last night and LOVE! It is called <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">Eat Pray Love </span>and I can tell just from just the first 60 pages why it was on NY #1 Bestselling list for so long. It is a book about this women's journey to find spiritual Nirvana while still living IN the world. And may I say, she has one of the most developed voices as an author that I have real in a long time. While this book is not informative in any Christian or spiritual sense (well at least so far), it is really something that I would HIGHLY recommend.<br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Of course I have been up to other things like coughing, sneezing, sounding like a man, and making the occasional chili and cookies (I CRAVE sweets when I am sick... aannd when Im not sick :)) nevertheless I do not want to bore you all with how many packages of throat lozenges I have (4) and what time I got to bed last night because my throat was swollen (3am). </div><div>Until next time!</div>Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554095170367441998.post-14824352944729566182009-01-10T12:58:00.000-08:002009-01-10T13:15:47.729-08:00yes I am predictable...So yes I said I would post like what, two, three days ago and yet here I am with my tail between my legs after breaking that promise. Yep, thats me! <div><br /></div><div>This "winter break" (yaa... I didn't really get one but oh well) was absolutely jam packed with goodness. Sorry there are going to be no pictures so far even though I do have some of our house that I will upload later, I am just not feeling up to getting my camera out right now :)</div><div>So here is a quick list of what Jake and I have been up to these past couple of weeks...</div><div><br /></div><div>*Decorated our house for our first Christmas together after we got back from Thanksgiving</div><div><br /></div><div>*I worked while Jake got two weeks paid vacation. Yes, the Education path truly does rock.</div><div><br /></div><div>*Helped my parents decorate their REAL trees :) oooohh the smell </div><div><br /></div><div>*One weekend literally jammed packed with various extended family Christmases</div><div><br /></div><div>*We went to the Back to Bethlehem thing in Simi with one of Jakes friends</div><div><br /></div><div>*Christmas Eve with Jakes Family</div><div><br /></div><div>*Christmas brunch with mine and then dinner with his</div><div><br /></div><div>*Had my brother and Sister-in-law and our close couple friends over to see our apartment</div><div><br /></div><div>*NEW YEARS movie with my parents and then went to Jake's cousins house</div><div><br /></div><div>*One wedding last Sunday, one tomorrow and one on February 7th. I must now brace myself for getting sick a lot seeing that I am working with 35 kindergardeners and 1st Graders, who's idea of fun is playing with their own spit... seriously, this happened.</div><div><br /></div><div>So this has been my life. Throw a couple of 9-12 hour days at work in there and you can probably see why it has taken me so long to write, but here I am no pictures and all!</div><div>HAPPY 2009!!!</div><div><br /></div>Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554095170367441998.post-89860038613667861482009-01-06T18:49:00.000-08:002009-01-06T18:51:12.799-08:00OK OK...Alright, I have been away from the blogging world far too much! I promise I will post tomorrow with all of the lovely holiday happenings and all events in-between. <div>GOODNIGHT!</div>Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554095170367441998.post-21422813139067037612008-12-18T15:41:00.000-08:002008-12-18T16:31:46.680-08:00Happy Day Wednesday!<div style="text-align: left;">To be completely honest, I hate Wednesdays. Monday is the beginning of the week and you get to ask "so what did you do this weekend?" Tuesdays just seem to fly by. Thursday is Office and 30 Rock day so how could that be bad? and Fri, Sat, and Sun are the weekend so how could THAT be bad?!?! But oooohohoho do I despise Wednesdays. Why you ask? Well without fail, every time Wednesday rolls around I think to myself "YESSSS!!! Its Thursday!" Only coming to realize moments later that I was wrong. However, this Wednesday was actually pretty fun! To my great delight my loving and AMAZING husband agreed to make dinner for me that night (realize this is RARE. Not to bring fault to him of course, I just love cooking so I always do it! Still every once and a while it is nice to have a break :)) Seeing that I had yet to do the grocery shopping this week because last weeks food stretched out for so long, I got to GROCERY SHOPPING!!!! No this enthusiasm is not sardonic in any way. I. LOVE. GROCERY SHOPPING! It is almost therapeutic to me. And then to add to that I didn't even really need to shop on a budget because I had a weeks amount of money to spend on two nights dinners (Friday we are going out with friends and then we have family dinners all weekend long). While I really do like shopping on a budget (yes I have been known to get a weeks worth of groceries for $40. I'm that good) every once in a while it is nice to splurge on non beans and rice related items. This is what I got this week!<br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span> </div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span> <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span> All for $30. Still not a bad deal if you ask me.</div><div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 238); "><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUrivSUa8LI/AAAAAAAAABs/aEL-QrCpUjM/s320/DSCN0616.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281282815044546738" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="">And yes those are Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs in the background because I am 5 years old. OOoohhh and the Candy Cane Joe Joe's!!! This is all from Trader Joe's and if you have not tried their Candy Cane Joe Joe's yet you have not lived :) </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="">Soon after my lovely hubby came home from work and made me the best dinner! Whole wheat pasta with vegetarian meatballs!!! mmmm... If you have never tried vegetarian substitutes you really must! These meatballs were AMAZInG! I even got to go to the gym in our complex while he was making dinner which ended up also being amazing because there was a Jon & Kate Plus 8 Marathon going on while I was working out! What could be better?</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="">When I came home the house smelled so delicious and the food really lived up to the smell :)</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="">My extremely good looking husband making dinner.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><span class="Apple-style-span" style=""><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUrkhd46PwI/AAAAAAAAAB0/mDdvmagQExE/s1600-h/DSCN0618.JPG" style="text-decoration: none;"><img src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUrkhd46PwI/AAAAAAAAAB0/mDdvmagQExE/s320/DSCN0618.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281284776655470338" style="text-decoration: underline;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">And the finished product! It was sooo yummy!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUrlA2WqnkI/AAAAAAAAAB8/JTZE2HNV7bY/s1600-h/DSCN0619.JPG" style="text-decoration: none;"><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUrlA2WqnkI/AAAAAAAAAB8/JTZE2HNV7bY/s320/DSCN0619.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5281285315798670914" style="text-decoration: underline;display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">AND THEN after all of this, our good friends Luke and Talya came over to play games and eat Joe Joe's with us (sorry, no pictures of this, but just so you know the Joe Joe's were gone before the day was over). What?!?! Too good to be true.</div><div style="text-align: left;">Yep, Wednesday was pretty darn great!</div></div>Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554095170367441998.post-43524207836790821992008-12-16T13:25:00.000-08:002008-12-16T13:26:55.651-08:00Oh ya!...I almost forgot, I got the job that I wrote about and have been praying for, so thank you to all of you who have been praying along with me :)Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554095170367441998.post-71273668793426025182008-12-14T15:29:00.000-08:002008-12-16T13:25:26.344-08:00A fun and FREE weekend!<div style="text-align: left;">Yep this weekends happenings were all free (well except for the food, but thats never free :)). On Friday our dear friends Luke and Talya invited us to go with them to see a play at their church, which just so happened to be directed by someone who works with the both of them and Jake (yes they ALL work at OFL, or Opportunities for Learning charter school). The play was called "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," and was filled with cute little ones running around on stage. Still, the yummiest part came after when we all went to Cold Stone! It is so rich that I am not good with eating it all that often but it really was so good eating it outside in the cold. Yes, eating ice cream in the cold is the best in my opinion. <br /></div><div><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUdHJVMo-OI/AAAAAAAAABc/5xsCagNNcno/s1600-h/DSCN0609.JPG"><img src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUdHJVMo-OI/AAAAAAAAABc/5xsCagNNcno/s320/DSCN0609.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5280267313749752034" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></a><div><br /></div><div>Then after working early Saturday morning, Jake and I went to Grace's Christmas concert which was also FREE! gotta love it. So now we are off to do a little Christmas shopping which is definitely NOT free... but I love it anyway!</div><div><br /></div><div>Lastly, we got to go over to my parents house on Sunday and help them decorate for Christmas. It was so much fun getting to spend time with them and Jake was SUPER happy because they were playing "The Muppet Christmas Carol" which is by far one of his favorite movies!</div><div><br /></div><div>I hope you all had a happy (and free!) weekend!</div><div>*Sorry there aren't more pictures, my computer is having problems loading them :(</div></div></div>Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8554095170367441998.post-90380561696923986352008-12-12T15:36:00.000-08:002008-12-12T15:53:36.634-08:00Getting my ears lowered...<div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUL1kA8P65I/AAAAAAAAAA8/AqmF60ZgwVo/s1600-h/Photo+26.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUL1kA8P65I/AAAAAAAAAA8/AqmF60ZgwVo/s320/Photo+26.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279051712308439954" /></a></div><div>Does anyone remember that episode of Doug where he wants to get his hair cut but everyone keeps telling him "oh, you're going to go get your ears lowered are you?" and it ends up freaking him out because he is taking their comments literally? Well I too got my ears lowered yesterday, or as I like to call it, a haircut. She did a very good job and it only took an hour which was a nice surprise (I have so much hair that it usually takes at least an hour and a half... ya). I brought in a photo of what I wanted from this singer I like and she really nailed it! </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUL1yxcFsVI/AAAAAAAAABM/JTHt7RwMjVQ/s1600-h/Photo+25.jpg"><img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUL1yxcFsVI/AAAAAAAAABM/JTHt7RwMjVQ/s320/Photo+25.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279051965845057874" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUL1qX7M3mI/AAAAAAAAABE/KYiDP-zqpL4/s1600-h/Photo+27.jpg" style="text-decoration: none; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">So yes I did a little fashion show for everyone in front of our hideous white blinds</span></a></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUL1qX7M3mI/AAAAAAAAABE/KYiDP-zqpL4/s1600-h/Photo+27.jpg" style="text-decoration: none; "><img src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6MoyNfqV4b4/SUL1qX7M3mI/AAAAAAAAABE/KYiDP-zqpL4/s320/Photo+27.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5279051821557276258" style="text-decoration: underline; display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div>I hope everyone likes it because it will be me for a while :)</div><div>So on a more serious note, my husband and I plowed through an entire box of mint Oreo's in the matter of two and a half days. Yes I too am a little fuzzy on how this happened but currently we only have two cookies left out of the carton and I REALLY want to eat them but I will be nice and save them for the lovely hubby who bought them for me when I was sick. Yes I eat sugar while I am sick. I will eat sugar anytime and anywhere!</div><div>Ok an actual serious note. Prayer would be greatly appreciated at this time for me and my job situation. I am currently waiting to hear back from a child care company about whether or not I received a particular job. God has been good to us so far with providing financially but I really am such a nervous wreck when it come to this stuff and I beat my self up for days over what I could have done better in the interview. So if you could please try to pray for both Jake and I during this time it would be greatly appreciated. Start a journal<br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>2. Take more pictures<br /></div><div><br /></div><div>three empty journals and a broken camera later I resign myself to the pathetic list. Oh yes, you know that one. Its the one where January 23rd comes around and you completely forgot that you wanted to actually accomplish something that year. Yep. Thats me. So this year, BEFORE New Years rolls around I decided to combine the two into one attainable accomplishment. I love reading blogs. Stalker. I know. But it is true. And if I can speak plainly I really don't like them if they don't come with pictures. For for my 6th attempt I am trying something new by starting this blog and I hope it works. Im not selling anything (even though I wish I was talented enough to) and there really aren't any major life changes going on. Im just your average space cadet that had far too many JD moments (if you watch Scrubs then you are in the club, congratulations) for me to keep in, soo... here we go!</div>Nikkihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17464833223137489106noreply@blogger.com1
