Happy Day Wednesday!

To be completely honest, I hate Wednesdays. Monday is the beginning of the week and you get to ask "so what did you do this weekend?" Tuesdays just seem to fly by. Thursday is Office and 30 Rock day so how could that be bad? and Fri, Sat, and Sun are the weekend so how could THAT be bad?!?! But oooohohoho do I despise Wednesdays. Why you ask? Well without fail, every time Wednesday rolls around I think to myself "YESSSS!!! Its Thursday!" Only coming to realize moments later that I was wrong. However, this Wednesday was actually pretty fun! To my great delight my loving and AMAZING husband agreed to make dinner for me that night (realize this is RARE. Not to bring fault to him of course, I just love cooking so I always do it! Still every once and a while it is nice to have a break :)) Seeing that I had yet to do the grocery shopping this week because last weeks food stretched out for so long, I got to GROCERY SHOPPING!!!! No this enthusiasm is not sardonic in any way. I. LOVE. GROCERY SHOPPING! It is almost therapeutic to me.  And then to add to that I didn't even really need to shop on a budget because I had a weeks amount of money to spend on two nights dinners (Friday we are going out with friends and then we have family dinners all weekend long). While I really do like shopping on a budget (yes I have been known to get a weeks worth of groceries for $40. I'm that good) every once in a while it is nice to splurge on non beans and rice related items. This is what I got this week!

All for $30. Still not a bad deal if you ask me.
And yes those are Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs in the background because I am 5 years old.  OOoohhh and the Candy Cane Joe Joe's!!! This is all from Trader Joe's and if you have not tried their Candy Cane Joe Joe's yet you have not lived :)

Soon after my lovely hubby came home from work and made me the best dinner! Whole wheat pasta with vegetarian meatballs!!! mmmm... If you have never tried vegetarian substitutes you really must! These meatballs were AMAZInG! I even got to go to the gym in our complex while he was making dinner which ended up also being amazing because there was a Jon & Kate Plus 8 Marathon going on while I was working out! What could be better?

When I came home the house smelled so delicious and the food really lived up to the smell :)

My extremely good looking husband making dinner.

And the finished product! It was sooo yummy!
AND THEN after all of this, our good friends Luke and Talya came over to play games and eat Joe Joe's with us (sorry, no pictures of this, but just so you know the Joe Joe's were gone before the day was over). What?!?! Too good to be true.
Yep, Wednesday was pretty darn great!

A fun and FREE weekend!

Yep this weekends happenings were all free (well except for the food, but thats never free :)). On Friday our dear friends Luke and Talya invited us to go with them to see a play at their church, which just so happened to be directed by someone who works with the both of them and Jake (yes they ALL work at OFL, or Opportunities for Learning charter school). The play was called "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," and was filled with cute little ones running around on stage. Still, the yummiest part came after when we all went to Cold Stone! It is so rich that I am not good with eating it all that often but it really was so good eating it outside in the cold. Yes, eating ice cream in the cold is the best in my opinion.

Then after working early Saturday morning, Jake and I went to Grace's Christmas concert which was also FREE! gotta love it. So now we are off to do a little Christmas shopping which is definitely NOT free... but I love it anyway!

Lastly, we got to go over to my parents house on Sunday and help them decorate for Christmas. It was so much fun getting to spend time with them and Jake was SUPER happy because they were playing "The Muppet Christmas Carol" which is by far one of his favorite movies!

I hope you all had a happy (and free!) weekend!
*Sorry there aren't more pictures, my computer is having problems loading them :(

Getting my ears lowered...

Does anyone remember that episode of Doug where he wants to get his hair cut but everyone keeps telling him "oh, you're going to go get your ears lowered are you?" and it ends up freaking him out because he is taking their comments literally? Well I too got my ears lowered yesterday, or as I like to call it, a haircut. She did a very good job and it only took an hour which was a nice surprise (I have so much hair that it usually takes at least an hour and a half... ya). I brought in a photo of what I wanted from this singer I like and she really nailed it!
I hope everyone likes it because it will be me for a while :)
So on a more serious note, my husband and I plowed through an entire box of mint Oreo's in the matter of two and a half days. Yes I too am a little fuzzy on how this happened but currently we only have two cookies left out of the carton and I REALLY want to eat them but I will be nice and save them for the lovely hubby who bought them for me when I was sick. Yes I eat sugar while I am sick. I will eat sugar anytime and anywhere!
Ok an actual serious note. Prayer would be greatly appreciated at this time for me and my job situation. I am currently waiting to hear back from a child care company about whether or not I received a particular job. God has been good to us so far with providing financially but I really am such a nervous wreck when it come to this stuff and I beat my self up for days over what I could have done better in the interview. So if you could please try to pray for both Jake and I during this time it would be greatly appreciated. I will make sure to update also with the (hopefully good) results.

I try to lives by the Four Main Food Groups

Can you guess what they are? Yep thats right!
Candy
Candy Canes
Candy Corn
and Syrup!
Jake and I watched ELF two nights ago and I must say, it really is one of my favorites.

While in Chicago over Thanksgiving, my husband, brother, sister-in-law and I were all talking about which TV character we would be. Without thinking, my husband declared that I was Kenneth from 30 ROCK

That face explains it all. However, after watching ELF last night we made an executive decision that I was far more like Buddy the Elf.

Yes I think this is far more accurate.

I love quoting shows and movies so here are some of my favorite from ELF! (from IMDB)

Buddy: [out of breath from chasing Michael] Wow, you're fast. I'm glad I caught up to you. I waited 5 hours for you. Why is your coat so big? So, good news - I saw a dog today. Have you seen a dog? You probably have. How was school? Was it fun? Did you get a lot of homework? Huh? Do you have any friends? Do you have a best friend? Does he have a big coat, too?...

Buddy: You stink. You smell like beef and cheese! You don't smell like Santa.

Buddy: First we'll make snow angels for a two hours, then we'll go ice skating, then we'll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we'll snuggle.
(this would be my perfect day!)

I just love watching movies with my husband!

My Failed Resolutions

For the past five years or so my New Year's Resolution has been one of two things
1. Start a journal
2. Take more pictures

three empty journals and a broken camera later I resign myself to the pathetic list. Oh yes, you know that one. Its the one where January 23rd comes around and you completely forgot that you wanted to actually accomplish something that year. Yep. Thats me. So this year, BEFORE New Years rolls around I decided to combine the two into one attainable accomplishment. I love reading blogs. Stalker. I know. But it is true. And if I can speak plainly I really don't like them if they don't come with pictures. For for my 6th attempt I am trying something new by starting this blog and I hope it works. Im not selling anything (even though I wish I was talented enough to) and there really aren't any major life changes going on. Im just your average space cadet that had far too many JD moments (if you watch Scrubs then you are in the club, congratulations) for me to keep in, soo... here we go!
